Summary of The Last Bargain, Class 8 English

Rabindranath Tagore, a well-known Bengali poet, wrote the poem “The Final Deal.” It’s a poem about someone hunting for work. The speaker in the poem is looking for a career that will allow him to keep his freedom. The first proposition comes from a King. In exchange for his efforts, the monarch promises him authority. But, he declines the king’s offer.

A wealthy man makes him a second proposition. He gives the speaker a large sum of gold in exchange for his time. But, the speaker declines his offer as well. A lovely girl makes him his third offer. She promises to offer him smiles in exchange for his efforts. The speaker also declines her offer. Finally, he comes across a kid playing on the beach. The child declares that he will give him nothing in exchange for his services. The speaker accepts the child’s offer since he is still free.

The Last Bargain Class 8 Summary in English

The Final Deal is a poem that tells the story of a guy looking for work. He wants a career where he can work without sacrificing his independence. The speaker receives offers from the powerful, wealthy, and attractive but declines them all. He ultimately accepts the last bargain, which is a child.

Early in the morning, the speaker receives the first offer from a Monarch. The king has greater power than riches. As a result, the monarch promises him authority in exchange for his efforts. Yet, the speaker believes that his position is unimportant. That could dissipate shortly. As a result, he declines the king’s offer.

In the middle of the day, he receives a second offer from a wealthy man. The wealthy elderly guy promises him a large sum of gold in exchange for his efforts. Money and wealth did not entice the speaker. He believes that money will be squandered quickly and that it cannot purchase permanent bliss. As a result, he declines his own offer.

There was natural beauty and flowers all around in the evening. In exchange for his efforts, a gorgeous girl with a lovely smile provides him with smiles. The speaker believes that her happiness was cloaked in grief. As a result, he did not find it suitable for him. As a result, he too declined her offer.

He eventually arrives at the seaside while strolling. He comes across a young boy playing with seashells. He plays with him there. The youngster claims that he cannot compensate the speaker for his effort. The speaker agrees with his suggestion. He believes that he will not lose his independence while playing with the youngster. He will remain a free guy and will find eternal bliss while playing with the innocent youngster. This was the final deal that I made.
